It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

So, I haven't updated in a while and I apologize. But mostly my life has been busy with homework and more homework with some fun inbetween. Last weekend a group of my friends and I went shopping on Saturday and then went to my friend Brandy's house for supper. Her mom made us fetucinni alfredo, which was SO good. After supper we played this super funny game called chuckle belly. It's pretty self explanatory what you do. Everyone lies on the floor on top of each other's belly and laughs. I was on Katie's stomach and she was laughing so hard that my head was vibrating! Lol. On Sunday Brandy, Katie and I participated in the Saskatoon Santa Clause parade with Brandy's College and Career group at her church. On Tuesday we had a worship practice with the youth ministry worship team that I am on. Our previous practices had been really frustrating and not gone well because we were not in sync with each other but finally this week we managed to get through two songs and were mostly in sync. It was so encouraging to finally be making music together! Choir has been busy with preperatons for our Christmas concert but it is finally starting to come together. This weekend was busy with helping set up Christmas trees and other Christmas decorations in the ad. It is so nice to have a festive feel in the air! Yesterday my friends Katie, Brandy, Carley, Spencer and I went to this Enchated Forest thing in Saskatoon. It was so pretty and fun! Afterwards we went to Brandy's for Tim Tam Slams, which were so good. Anyways, tonight is Battle of the Bands here and I think a group of my friends is doing something for it. Well, I come home in 20 days! Wow this semester has gone by so fast! Have a great weekend everyone!

Busy, Busy, Horribly busy.

Hey! So, sorry that I haven't updated for so long but as you can see from the title of this post, I haven't really had time. I am still loving it here! In the beginning of October they had a formal day and that was so much fun! Everyone looked so good and it was fun taking pictures with all my new friends and just getting dressed up for a day. Basically my life has been like this: classes, watching lots of movies, going to the city, hw, and not a lot of sleep (though frequent naps have now become a regular part of my life. Lol.) I have met so many great people here and can't wait to see what God will teach me. Over Thanksgiving weekend I got the opportunity to go visit my relatives in Manitoba and it was nice to see all my cousins, Aunts and Uncles and, of course, my Grandparents again. It was sad not to be home but at least I got to be with some part of my family. Anyways, continuing on, recently a few of my dormies and I went to go see the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Let's just say that although the movie had a few funny parts, I would definitely NOT recommend it. Today was Day of Prayer which was AMAZING! I definitely needed the time alone with God. The prayer walk that with did within our units was also amazing and a great time just to get to know one another better. So far my favourite course is (to no one's surprise) choir. I am so excited because we are doing some songs for the school play so I will get to be involved in that. Well, I am missing you all terribly and can't wait to see you at Christmas. Hope you guys are all doing well and I will continue to keep you updated.

A Weekend of Fun!

On Friday the school organized outings to the city and so I signed up for bowling. It was so much fun and I got to talk to a lot of people who I didn't know super well yet. Afterward we went out for milkshakes. So good! On Sunday I went to the local MC church and I really liked the pastor. His sermon was very thought provoking. Classes are going well but there is a lot of reading. In typical Jessica fashion and I worked hard and am ahead of all my classmates, which means more free time (yay!) Yesterday they had a coffee house in the evening with live music and it was another great chance to meet people. I think my favourite part so far has been the selahs (aka Chapels). Everyone is so friendly here and I am having a blast living in dorm! However, I still miss everyone back home and can't wait to see you all at Christmas. Well, I think that is all the updates I can think of for now. Have an awesome week everyone!

Welcome to Bethany

Wow! I can't believe that I am finally at College! It feels so weird but good at the same time. My roommate is a girl named Katie and she is awesome. Yesterday was first year registration and let me tell you, it was CRAZY! I was happy that I got into all the classes that I wanted. This semester I am taking Intro to the Bible, Intro to Biblical Interpretation, Spiritual Formation, Theater Arts, Choir and Marriage and Family Studies. We've had two chapels already, which have been amazing and I am looking forward to many more. Mostly it has been cold and rainy here. Summer has come and gone :( I had my first class today and it was a little overwhelming but I think it will be a good semester. Mostly I've hung out with my roommate Katie and another girl I met (who happens to be my second cousin) Carley. They are really nice. I already have a library reading assignment due for next week (yuck) but I am already almost done it. Choir starts next Tuesday and I am so excited! Missing everyone back home. Wishing you all the best as you all go back to school!

The Woes Of A Soon To Be College Student

Ok so it is now less than a month until I leave for Bethany and so I thought I'd post some things that I am and am not going to miss about my high school years in general

I am going to miss...
-how easy everything was! The homework is nothing compared to what I know awaits me at College
-having everything done for me (course schedule, laundry, meals etc)
-youth group
-my friends
-my parents (just a little bit?)
-band class
-annual samosa sales
-Ryan
-the school hours and class lengths
-not yet being considered an adult and therefore not responsible for all areas of my life

I am NOT going to miss...
-noisy and annoying younger students
-having my parents nagging me about things
-Math, PE etc.
-being woken up by either Nathan or Ryan playing their instruments
-my summer job
-Planning 10, Grad transitions or any other annoying Government required courses
-useless assemblies

Uggh!!!! Summer jobs are probably the most annoying things ever! Especially when you only get 18-22 hours a week at minimum wage. It doesn't help when my mom grumbles about how lousy my job is. Well, sorry mom but I tried to get a second job and it didn't work out. I will be so glad when I get a degree and a job that I enjoy. Not that I hate my job at Splashdown but I'm tired of staying in Ladner all summer. Heck, I want to be at College already! I can't wait for the new freedom, friends, and fun times that await me at Bethany but to those of my friends still in high school, enjoy it while it lasts because it goes by so fast. Recently I have been buying and packing up things for college and I actually feel... old. Lol. I know I am not actually that old but I am at the age now where everyone expects you to be mature and responsible. It is bittersweet in a way. Still, I am excited to begin the next stage of my life. Childhood stage: over Adult stage: begun

Welcome to my Blog!

Hey friends!  So as you know I am going away to Bethany College in Hepburn, Saskatchewan this fall.  I have set up this blog so that I can let you know what is going on in my life while I am away.  It's a fast and easy way to keep in touch will all of you at the same time.  I am excited about this new experience and can't wait to make some new friends.  I haven't had a lot of chance to study the Bible in depth and I am looking forward to furthering my knowledge of this great book.  One of the biggest things that I am looking forward to is getting to be in a choir again!  :D  Please continue praying for me that I would be able to make some great new friends and that I would grow deeper in my relationship with God.  Love you all!
